Small and large parties active in forming alliances in politics

Almost all the political parties active after August have been meeting among themselves. The comparatively smaller parties are seeking to increase their importance in the political arena. Along with this, they are demanding a respectable partnership. On the other hand, the big parties are thinking of sitting in the seat of power, even if they make some concessions. Even the upcoming new student party will consider if they want to contest the elections in an alliance.

Most of the country’s political parties have already started holding meetings and rallies at the district and divisional levels. The parties are competing in the field in an attempt to increase support.

Not only are they trying to gain the support of voters, but parties with different ideologies are also working on understanding among themselves. In addition to like-minded or coalition parties, they are meeting with smaller parties in roundtables. Are there any discussions going on among political parties about alliances?

Maulana Gazi Ataur Rahman, Senior Joint Secretary General of the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh, said, “We now want to come out of the past political culture of revenge, revenge, and hurting each other. We want a qualitative change in politics. We want to change the country. It is not possible for a single party, it has to be done by everyone together.”

The Islamist party Khilafat Majlis has recently held several meetings with almost all parties. What is the once ‘disaffiliated’ party thinking this time?

Khilafat Majlis Secretary General Dr. Ahmed Abdul Quader said, ‘We have talked but this has not been decided yet. It will not happen this time to give away one or two seats like before.’

The People’s Rights Council believes that anyone who comes to power without the support of the students and small parties who led the mass uprising could face difficulties.

Nurul Haque Noor, president of the People’s Rights Council, said, “If those who will form the government in the future do not have the support of a large part of the political parties, then they will also have a hard time running the government. Not only the current crisis, but also various types of crises will arise after the election.”

Noting that the importance of small parties is increasing, the AB Party chairman said that its impact will be seen in the voting field this time.

AB Party Chairman Mujibur Rahman Manju said, “Politics should be taken to parliament rather than the streets. All kinds of debates will take place there. For this reason, the newly formed parties are gaining importance.”

Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami is ready to form an alliance with any party that is pro-democracy and anti-fascist.

Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar said, “The desire, interest, and longing for a unity, a compromise, and an alliance election have increased. In such an environment, we too seem to have joined an alliance with a party.”

BNP Standing Committee member Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said that all parties should be given importance in forming a national government after the elections. He said that BNP will consider if students want to form an alliance and contest the elections.

Hafiz said, “Our party will definitely consider participating in the elections in an alliance with the BNP. We will have equal attention to all parties. We welcome everyone to the political arena. If the BNP gets a majority in the elections, we want to form a national government with other parties.”
