Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to Bangladesh’s newly formed interim government, convened a meeting with senior secretaries and secretaries from 25 ministries under his portfolio on Monday.
The meeting, held at the chief advisor’s official residence, State Guest House Jamuna, aimed to discuss the action plans of each ministry and division. The Cabinet Department had previously sent a letter to the secretaries regarding this meeting.
On Thursday, a 17-member interim government was established under the leadership of Dr. Yunus, following the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina amid widespread protests. The interim government, which will oversee the country until snap parliamentary elections are held, includes Dr. Yunus overseeing 27 ministries and divisions, including key portfolios such as Defence, Education, and Public Administration.
The next day, the Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification detailing the responsibilities of the advisers to the interim government. Dr. Yunus, a Nobel laureate and renowned economist, has been entrusted with significant responsibilities to steer the nation through this transitional period.
