Bangladesh will aim to win against India in the third T20I

The Tigers will face India in Hyderabad on Saturday in the final T20I of the series. After losing the first two matches, Bangladesh wants to win to avoid a whitewash.

Bangladesh’s T20 track record has never been particularly strong. Nevertheless, there was optimism for the series, as they fielded a more experienced side than India’s relatively young side.

However, Bangladesh’s batting lineup failed to impress, unable to show their potential.

In the lead-up to the final match, Bangladesh’s fielding coach, Nick Pothus, drew on their recent T20 World Cup outing, where the team made it to the Super Eight, for inspiration.

“If you talk about performance, we played in the Super Eight at the World Cup, which we haven’t done before,” Pothus said on Friday, adding that a series loss does not mean they haven’t progressed.

He also mentioned their historic wins in New Zealand and Pakistan, where Bangladesh got their first Test win. While they have shown progress in ODIs and Tests in recent years, their T20 performances have been inconsistent.

Bangladesh suffered a seven-wicket defeat in the opening match of the series, followed by a crushing defeat by 86 runs in the second match. Both times they failed to put up any resistance against the hosts.

Considering this loss, fans will probably lower their expectations for the final match.

Still, a win could provide a boost to the Tigers as they prepare for their upcoming home series against South Africa, where two Tests will be played in Dhaka and Chittagong.
